Ilocos Sur 10-Day Vigan Festival

The  Vigan City fiesta, a week-long celebration that takes place around January 25th, honors St. Paul the Apostle, the city's patron saint, with a procession, musical acts, beauty contests, and cultural exhibitions. During the celebration, we witnessed a parade which showcases  what people used to and still using as a mode of transportation which is the kalesa which a horse is needed and it serves as the main component in order for the kalesa to work and it includes with two wheels and a box-like seat behind the horse.

One of the aspects of the Vigan Festival that has got my attention is the residents' dedication to upholding their traditions. The people take great joy in their history and are dedicated to keeping it alive for future generations, as demonstrated by the many performances. These certain events had a huge impact on me, and it made me consider how important it is to protect our own traditions. With these things, not only is it the people who lives in Vigan who can embrace and be proud of their own culture, and their very own products.

During these celebrations not only did it help me to be more proud with my own culture and our own history, but I also learned things that one must have in his/her self. The festivals helped me in knowing and discovering all the cultures and the histories of the products and the places in Vigan. No wonder it was entitled one of the seven wonder cities in the world because of how unique this place is.

Through the adventure, seeing the dedication of the people in order for them to represent and be proud of their towns had me realized that one must respect all the products a town can offer. The hard work they did in order for them to show it to the world, in order to support their local products. All in all, this festival teaches us to be proud of who we are, be proud of our own culture, and making people know the unique products your town can offer.
